Here's a synopsis of the 1946 edition of Rupert & The Wonderful Boots by Mary Tourtel, published by Sampson, Low & Marston Co. Ltd in a large 14” x 9.25” card cover format:
When a cobbler stops by Rupert Little Bear’s cottage to repair Mr. Bear’s boots, he shows Rupert a pair of magic boots he’s just mended for a wizard – boots that can carry whoever wears them to faraway places. Curious, Rupert tries them on and is whisked away on a thrilling flight over villages and castles. Along the way, he faces danger: he’s captured by brigands and an evil ogre, and the boots are nearly stolen. Eventually, he meets a kindly fairy in disguise, who commands the boots to return him home safely – and the cobbler, who was caught up in the chaos, ensures Rupert gets back to his cottage unharmed.
The 1946 edition features Tourtel’s original colour illustrations and is a reprint of one of her classic Rupert Bear stories.
