Children of the Jacaranda Tree by Sahar Delijani – First UK Edition Hardback 2013
Description
Children of the Jacaranda Tree by Sahar Delijani is a powerful and moving debut novel set in post-revolutionary Iran, following three generations whose lives are shaped by imprisonment, political oppression, family, love and the enduring hope for freedom.
Set between 1983 and 2011, the novel centres on the experiences of mothers, fathers and children affected by the turbulent history of Iran. Among them are women imprisoned in Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison, children separated from their parents, and a younger generation forced to confront the painful legacy of the past.
Sahar Delijani drew inspiration from the experiences of her own family, and the novel explores the human cost of revolution while remaining ultimately a story about love, resilience and the search for freedom.
