Full Description
This delightful bundle brings together twelve original silk cigarette cards from the classic Flags of the World series, produced by Godfrey Phillips / B.D.V. Cigarettes around 1910–1920. Each card is finely woven on soft silk, with beautiful, vibrant colours that have held up beautifully for over a century.
The set includes:
• 🇦🇺 New South Wales (#46)
• 🏴 England — Red Ensign (#45)
• 🇼🇸 British Samoa (#44) — scarce colonial flag
• 🇧🇷 Brazil (#43)
• 🇩🇪 Bavaria (#36)
• 🇫🇷 Versailles (#47) — unusual civic flag with double rooster
• 🇧🇴 Bolivia (#37)
• 🦁 British North Borneo — featuring the lion emblem, most sought-after in this group
• 🇲🇦 Morocco (#59)
• 🇿🇦 Orange Free State (#56) — historic Boer Republic flag
• 🇷🇺 Russia (#14) — pre-revolutionary design
• 🇵🇹 Portugal (#10)
Condition: Most cards are in excellent vintage order — bright, crisp and well-preserved. A couple show minor fraying at the silk edges or tiny corner creases (noted in individual descriptions), which is entirely typical for their age. All designs are complete and vivid.
A fantastic starter collection or a wonderful addition to an existing silk card album. These little silks are becoming harder to find, especially in such a varied, interesting grouping.
